Many employers also have their own sick pay scheme and pay their employees for some, or all days of a spell of sickness. If your employer has their own sick pay scheme they must pay an amount that is at least as much as SSP to any employee who qualifies under the rules described in this guide. You will also have to keep to the rules of your employer's sick pay scheme, if there is one, to make sure you get all the sick pay you are entitled to.
