Budget Statement 2004: A Summary of the Small Business Announcements

Introduction

On 17 March 2004 the Chancellor of the Exchequer gave his Budget statement, which showed that:

  • the UK economy is now enjoying its longest sustained expansion on record;
  • economic growth last year was in line with the Budget 2003 forecast, and is projected to strengthen further in 2004 and 2005; and
  • the government is on track to meet its strict fiscal rules for the public finances.
