There are also specialist security companies which can provide you with help and guidance. You should always establish the credibility of the company and its consultants. Some questions you may wish to ask are:

  • What experience do they have of your type of business?
  • What is their track record in this field?
  • Have they had recent experience of similar security tasks?
  • Will the nominated staff actually carry out the assignment?
  • Can they provide reference sites?

DTI's Information Security Policy Group aims to help business manage information security effectively.

The Group works with industry to raise awareness of information security issues, provide guidance on best practice and promote the development of solutions.
