Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
VoIP Solutions - Getting StartedVoIP allows phone calls to be made between PCs that are connected together on a computer network. This can be an internal LAN (either Ethernet or wireless-based) or any computer connected to the internet, as this is in effect part of a single worldwide network.
At its most basic, a VoIP system simply links PCs. But most VoIP systems include connections (called gateways) to the regular telephone network, allowing PC-to-phone and phone-to-phone calling.
