Product Development
How can I gauge the success of design in any given project?
The indicators of a design project's success depend greatly on the type of project. But most can be gauged by a combination of how it has:
- increased company profits
- quickened the take up of services
- increased market share for your products
How the project has met your business objectives, achieved its quantifiable goals and kept to its schedule are also measures of its success. For more detail on this, see Gauging the Success of Design.
Remember also that you can use design to improve your business through the products and services you offer, and you can double its effectiveness by planning for and using design strategically. By thinking the big design picture, rather than focussing on one single product, you can link all of the parts of your company that benefit from design and create a powerful business response that is irresistible to your customers.
